"Eddie. Eddie!" The stylings of The Runaways drowned out the sound of the genuinely human-like voice of the ever present AI in Eddie's workshop. He hadn't heard his spiritual mother's beckoning amongst the sound of his plasma torch hitting metal and Cherry Bomb blaring over his speakers. Suddenly, in simulated frustration, the AI shut down the music and replaced it with an ear shattering, "EDDIE!" This earned a jump from the young genius, who often associated that tone of voice with chastisement, even if it were far and between. He nearly dropped the torch with his gloved hand as his heart began to pound in his chest in shock and fear. He placed the torch down and removed his welding mask. "Helen!" He yelled back snarkily. "The Avengers gala is about to begin. You need to get ready." "Oh, yeah...no." He dismissed the statement and went to put his mask back on. "Eddie, you know this means a lot to your father and a lot of your friends." "Attend something in commemoration of something my father wants me to stay away from completely. Sounds like a good time." "Fine, if you're not going to do it for your father, then do it for the ones who have paved the way for you. You're not the first Iron man, you're the second. Your father and The Avengers have done so much for the world, and for you to be able to wear the suit with pride, even if your father is against it. So if it isn't for your father, it's for respect." It was almost scary how she always seemed to touch Eddie. But she was right. It wasn't about doing anything for his dad. The Avengers did a lot for the world. And even if he wasn't a part of them, the New team would do a lot too. He also owed it to Mainframe and Sarah who hadn't earned his disdained and were going to do big things. He let out a heavy sigh, "Fine. I'll stop by for a few hours I suppose." "Your suit is all ready to go."[break]
Eddie quickly got himself dressed and drove to the gala in the car he had gotten for his birthday not too long ago. He might not have been the party animal his father or sister was, but he did adopt a certain flair for style that his family had. His father might have been a fan of the classic hot rod models, but the futuristic style of the car suited Eddie perfectly. He blazed the streets as much as the law would possibly let him, and a little more honestly, reaching the front of the gala. Eddie liked to say he channeled his true inner Stark when he stepped into the spotlight. Stepping out of the vehicle, he tossed the keys to the valet. "Don't scratch it." The familiar flashes of paparazzi cameras flashed in his face. His eyes were barely effected after a few seconds, having conditioned himself to the attention that had been brought since his childhood.[break]
"Eddie, Eddie, care to comment on the event?" "I think it's an amazing event commemorating an two amazing groups of people that have and will changed the world in amazing ways, respectively." Where's your date tonight, Eddie?" "You know me, I like to see how the night goes." "There are a few children of original Avengers taking up their parent's mantles. Why is it we're not seeing you taking on the Iron man suit?" Eddie paused for a moment, taking the question into consideration. He didn't want it to ruin the night he didn't want to be a part of in the first place. He shook it off and began to walk into the building. "No further questions." He knew he'd just doomed himself to the 'no comment' articles out there. But he didn't want to put the damper on the night he already didn't want to have.[break]
Eddie was wowed by the fantastic job that was done. The atmosphere was pretty up his alley. He grabbed a glass of champagne from one of the waitresses, and took a nice long sip for the nice long night he was about to have. Looking around, he didn't see any of his family, nor anyone he particularly wanted to spend his time with anyway. That was until a young brunette in a nice coral dress caught his eye. Mainly because he knew her. May Parker, dear friend to his younger sister. Aka the Spider-girl. She was certainly on the short list of people he actually wanted to be around. He couldn't stand his father recently, and he didn't feel like witnessing his sister's crazy tendencies first hand should she be in the mood. So, May was his best shot. He also felt a certain closeness to her knowing her secret, and her knowing his as well. Maybe they could even talk about something productive, turn it into a decent night. He walked up to the side of her, leaning in to speak into her ear over the crowd. "Hit any of the booze yet?" He offered her a fun smile. "Cute dress. I think it suits you well." He sipped on his champagne some more.

Garfield Logan was born to two veterinary scientists. When he was young, Gar contracted a rare disease known as Sakutia. Sakutia forced the victim's DNA to rewrite itself, often reverting them into a primal state where they react upon pure instinct. To hopefully cure their son, Garfield's parents injected him with a serum created from the Green Capped Monkey. This animal is indigenous to Lamumba, where the Logans' research facility resided. They learned that the monkey was prone to rapid mutations in their DNA, counteracting the DNA reverting process of Sakutia. The serum proved effective in mutating Garfield's DNA for a similar effect, but only temporarily. For the rest of Gar's life, he had to be injected with doses of the monkey's blood to prevent the Sakutia from taking him over completely.[break][break]
The treatment had a side effect. The more he was dosed, the more his skin pigmentation seemed to change, due to the monkey's DNA that gave them their signature green pigmented scalp color.. Evolving from a green tinted hue to unmistakably green. Because of this, Garfield was subject to much ridicule by his peers. It made him embarrassed, angry, and scared. All rather negative and violent emotions. Emotions that let out a primal fury in him. On one such occasion, he finally snapped. His Sakutia got the better of him, and he entered a state of instinctual fight or flight, choosing the former. He didn't remember what happened that day. But when he came to, he hurt the bully that bothered him. More than he cared to remember. His parents warned him that it couldn't keep going, that he couldn't harm people like he did. The treatments only did so much, he needed to keep it under control. And so he tried.[break]
[break]
Rather than fight the ridicule, Garfield chose to embrace it. His willingly threw himself out there for such jokes, and often played on them himself. As insecure as he was about it, nobody could see it through the smiles and laughs he brought those. And so nobody could make fun of him. He was in control of his own ridicule. He was in control of his life. But, the older he got it seemed the less fun it was to make fun of himself. Reactions to his conditions were different during different stages of his changes. While the younger kids and teens laughed with him, eventually looking past his skin tone with his humor, those in his adulthood stared either in disgust or disturbing intrigue. Those in his graduate school wanted to study him, to see what made him tick. Why it happened. He preferred the childish ridicule.[break][break]
Garfield began working at the Central City zoo while going to school for Veterinary science. He enjoyed being around animals, which seemed to come naturally considering his parentage. He stayed light that night with the petting zoo when the particle accelerator went off. While he was feeding one oft he lambs. The accelerator caused his DNA to alter, mutating the Sakutia into something different. Nobody knew where Garfield was after that night. And, seemingly just as strange, people wanted to know where the green lamb in the petting zoo had come from. It was only after a few days that the lamb gained something of sentience. It sneaked out form the petting zoo, and transformed into a man secretly. A green man. Garfield Logan. Both mystified and frightened by his new powers, Garfield works to find out what was done to him. Also appreciating it for the cool gift that it is.

Animal Transformation: Due to the reaction oft he particle accelerator and his disease, Garfiel is able to rewrite his own DNA in order to transform into any animal he's seen and has working knowledge of. When he transforms, his genetic make up is completely identical to the animal, granting him access to any and all of an animal's abilities (Gorilla's strength, Cheetah's speed, etc) while also retaining his own human sentience in these forms. However, because most animals are unable to properly vocalize, he is unable to speak while in most animal forms (there are a few exceptions). Because the DNA will be similarly mutated from the Green Capped Monkey DNA, any animal he turns into will have a similarly green pigmentation.[break]
Regenerative Healing Factor: To help deal with his body's sudden transformations, Garfield's body heals at an incredibly accelerated rate. He can heal from minors cuts and wounds within seconds, and more severe wounds can be healed within a few hours to a few days depending on how severe it is.[break]
Learned in Veterinary sciences: Garfield has a wide knowledge of veterinary science and different anatomies. This helps him to transform and fully utilize an animal's attributes.[break]
Sakutia: Despite the disease being the base for his powers, it's negative effects still persist. There still is a chance Garfield can revert to a primal state, and it seems staying in animal forms for too long increases the risk of just that. It is entirely possible that, if the Sakutia takes him over while in an animal state, he was act instinctively, losing his human sentience and being unable to revert back to his human form.
