Mediterranean ancient civs 105, weirdly enough one of his favorite classes and the easiest for him to actually pass and it was over for the day, cool. He had a crap ton of homework and to be honest was ready to go home and just relax before he went to the gym later that night and worked out, then went straight from there to streets for some Sentinel time. He had his gear in his backpack simply because he felt safer with it on him at all times. If something needed done as Sentinel it was easier to change into a leather jacket and a hood with a mask underneath then to run home, grab your crap and then return to a situation that could already be done.
“Hey, Michael…” Michael turned around, hearing his voice while deep in his own mind had startled him slightly but he recovered quick enough to turn around while leaving his seat and see the attractive black haired girl with the blue eyes who seemed to always sit behind him. Not that he noticed or anything, it wasn’t like he actually SAW that one time she came late to class and got upset because one of the Frat guys had taken the seat that day, or anything. Nope, he had no clue about that she had once been talking to a friend, hoping he did hear her mention the cute older guy who she got a bad grade because she couldn’t stop looking at him her first week, nope none of that. He didn’t know any of that so instead of recounting what he knew he simply game her a smile and a look of confusion.
“Hi!....ummm…sorry I think its Sarah….no no…Gosh I’m sorry…umm Melony….”
“Monica.”
“Monica!! Sorry, I am so sorry. I don’t know many people here, kind of keep to myself.” A sheepish smile came to his lips as he scratched the back of his head nervously. In truth he really didn’t talk to many people at the college. He thought that if he gained a social life that it would get in the way of being his other self. The last thing he wanted was to put others in danger in a world where people where topping the speed of light and could jet around in full flame on. What was odd though was the fact that she didn’t seem effected by this, like instead of it upsetting her that he got her name mixed up with others, she was actually embarrassed herself.
“No its fine, umm I never really introduced myself to you so I can see why you wouldn’t know my name.” But you know mine…..
“Still, you would think I would try to get to know people around me in class.” He chuckled a little and she giggled nervously before rubbing her bare arm where her Starling City Rockets shirt sleeves didn’t reach. It was actually really cute how nervous she seemed to be. He didn’t know whether to let it keep going or move things along to be honest. Maybe letting her keep going was best….
“I was actually wondering if you were doing anything tonight, I know you know a lot about Assyrian text and I was confused about this paper we have to have done by Friday and I was wondering if you could…..” Before she could finish a scream came ripping through the room and Michael jerked himself toward the sound immediately. The lecture room doors were open to the sunny day outside and it seemed to be from there that the terror was coming from. Instinct kicked in and Michael ran for the door, forgetting Monica for the moment and started to open his backpack before he knew what he would find. Some would think this would be reckless, something that would end up getting him killed, but he knew better, it took A LOT to take him down.
What he found outside was a man screaming in a little courtyard just outside the lecture hall, he held a gun at a woman and began waving it at some security guards that were trying to get him to put it down. This was not good at all. A crowd was gathering and people were scared. This guy was getting whatever audience he wanted and Michael could tell he wanted one. IF this was about just killing this guy would have just opened fire on everyone he could get to. No this was about making a point, even if that point was a bit...well freaking nuts.
“YOU DON’T GET IT DO YOU!? I HAVE THE POWER!! I HAVE THIS GUN AND I CAN DO WHAT I WANT WITH IT!!” This was bad and it needed to end. The security guards couldn’t control this and the Cops would be to slow to get there. Michael ducked into the shadows of an empty hall and pulled out the leather jacket and mask and slid them on quickly before stashing the bag in a trash can and walking out a side door. Keep calm and do what needs to be done, keep death at a minimum. If you can get him to not fire a shot do so, if not…take the bullet. Sentinel moved around the corner of the building into the ongoing standoff, his head covered by the black leather hood, his face covered by a partial mask to distort his facial features a bit. Most people didn’t pay him any attention as he moved closer and closer, they were to scared or confused by the man who screamed words and threatened to shoot the woman he had infront of him.
“YOU THINK YOU KNOW WHATS GOING ON ANYMORE!? THERE ARE PEOPLE WHO CAN SHOOT LASERS FROM THEYRE EYES AND YOU THINK YOU CAN DO JACK!? WELL GUESS WHAT? NOW I HAVE POWER!!” Great, so this guy was a bit more wacked then Sentinel thought. He took acouple deep breaths as he walked through the crowd, pushing his way quickly through so that he could get there before this idiot did something really bad. IT wasn’t till he could no longer push someone out of the way that he realized he was in the middle of it all, standing ten feet from the crazed man. He needed to get out of his head, he needed to focus. Come on, this could end badly, FOCUS!
“SIR! Let the man go.” He turned on his favorite toy, the voice distorter, making his voice sound deeper and almost demonic. It fit with his black gear for one and for two it kept anyone from guessing, the perfect tool for the fledgling superhero.
“GET BACK OR I’ll KILL HER!!” Sentinel stood strong and watched the guy for a moment. This guy was pissed, crazed or just straight insane. He was spouting out anti-meta redirect that half the people in the courtyard probably didn't understand. He did of course, but to be honest that just made things a bit worse. This needed to end quickly before this guy decided to be a martyr for whatever cause he thought he was apart of.
“Kid you need to let the girl go, she has nothing to do why you seem to be mad.” He took two steps forward….Which seemed to be a bad move. After his first step he heard the blast and felt the intense pressure and pain rip halfway into his shoulder. Great, THAT was going to be fun pulling out later.
