Jason Ward was born as the second child of a decent family in Central City. He had quite a normal childhood, getting good grades in school and enjoying extra curricular activities like soccer and taekwondo. Taekwondo was his real passion however. He became very skilled in the fighting style, and won a few regional competitions in the sport. However when he graduated and prepared to go to college, he decided to study science rather than continue honing his fighting skills to a professional level. Jason studied in college and learned quite a lot about explosives. Because of this he joined the CCPD as both a detective and ballistics expert.

Ward had been hunting down a serial killer before the particle accelerator incident. The killer liked to capture his victims in intricate traps and watch as they tried to escape. Any attempt at escape would cause the trap to kill the victim. Jason had been captured in one of these traps, a cramped cage fitted with strange chemical explosives. Seeing no way out, Jason tried to kick the cage door in. One of his legs got stuck between the cage bars and the bombs went off. At the exact same time however, the particle accelerator sent waves of energy across the city. Jason woke up a couple days later in the hospital, and found he had recovered quite quickly.

He also found he'd acquired strange new powers, though how he acquired them was a mystery to him. Discovering his new powers had been most enjoyable. Jason had always been a thrill seeker, and was amazed that he could now jump from huge heights and survive the fall. However he soon saw he could use his powers for good. He saved money and bought a costume of sorts; padded leather hooded black armor with a metallic silver skull mask to hide his identity and strike fear into the hearts of criminals he faced. He used two solid tonfas, and incorporated taekwondo and his powers into his fighting style. Criminals new and old knew Prowler was a force to be reckoned with.

Buildings lit up, cars roamed the streets. But along with the partial beauty of Starling city came it's ugly side. Drugs, theft, murder even. All of these activities weren't uncommon in the large city. This was why the city needed people like The Canary, and The Arrow. It was also why Jason Ward, Prowler, had moved there.Central city had enough people protecting it.

The Flash and his team were well equipped to take on any threats posed to the brighter, more lively city. The Flash had super powers. The Arrow didn't.
