"If I had accepted things, I would be a cocktail waitress in Vegas like my mother and I never would have gone to college and I never would have moved a thousand miles away to work at Queen Consolidated and I never would have believed some crazy guy in a hood when he told me I could be more than just some I.T. girl."
[break][break]
Growing up, Felicity and her mother had a rough relationship as Felicity realized very quickly that she did not want to end up as a cocktail waitress like her mother. She pushed herself to make something positive in her life. She began to dabble in computers and tech at a very young age, even tested out a grade or two which made her a typical whizkid child prodigy. After graduating high school with outstanding grades, she made her way to M.I.T. It was at M.I.T. that her life would take a drastic turn. She joined a group of hackers who created civil protests and unrest by exposing information to the public that typically shouldn't be. When her boyfriend was arrested and later committed suicide in jail, she straightened her ways and became a star student as she was meant to be. After graduating from M.I.T, she needed an escape, a fresh start, and moved to Starling City. obtaining a job at Queen Consolidated.
[break][break]
However, her life took another spin during her time at Queen Consolidated, as she is approached by both Walter Steele and Oliver Queen at various times for help in their separate problems. With every task that Oliver had for her, he had some blown up excuse which piqued Felicity’s curiosity. This eventually led her to believe that Oliver was somehow involved with Starling City’s new vigilante. Her suspicions were confirmed when Oliver hid in the back of her car, needing her help, after having gotten shot by his own mother while investigating as the vigilante.
[break][break]
When Felicity moves from behind the desk at Queen Enterprises to the Arrow's lair being brought in as insider, not only is she going to bring her expertise to his merry little band, but she's going to learn from him too. She makes his mission better, because now Oliver doesn't have to know how to do everything. Sure, Oliver needs Felicity as the brains of his operation, but she is also the heart. The conscience. Felicity is a strong female character not because she wields guns or can shoot an arrow. She is strong because she has morals and values and refuses to compromise on them, even when it seems that she could lose everything. She's the one who tells him that he needs to become more than what he is. She's the one who verbalizes the moral dilemma that he's in as a masked vigilante. And through this, it's as though Oliver is now growing a heart.

[break][break]
Her abilities range from information retrieval, computer software and technology, gadget creation and technical weapons crafting. She's a great theorologist, often using her smarts from math, statistics and probability theory to come to conclusion about issues that are hard to crack. She also hoards and displays intimate knowledge in many other subjects, such as history, politics, economics, geography, physics, engineering, biology, and chemistry.
[break][break]
[break][break]
Felicity has proven herself to be a highly skilled computer specialist. If it can be broken, Felicity can do it. If it can be fixed, give her a bit. She's known to recreate and build computers from scratch, even breaking them down to their base components and rebuilds it better than it was before. She's also proficient at dismantling bombs; she's able to instruct someone properly on how to dismantle it. After discovering the vigilante's identity, Felicity constructed a highly effective computer system in the Arrowcave, which she uses to locate people, places, and things Oliver has a problem finding on his own.
[break][break]
[break][break]
If this were the Wild West, Felicity would be known as the fastest gun. It only takes her mere minutes to seconds to hack into the most secure of databases. She is more than able to bypass most firewalls and is also able to do so with surprising speed. And the good thing about it? It's a rare chance for her to actually toot her own horn about it.

Felicity is shown to be skilled in first aid, do to the fact that she was taught by John Diggle.

[attr="class","official-content"]
It was nights like these that made Felicity wonder why she paid rent on her apartment. Lately, if she wasn’t here helping out Team Arrow, then she was at work helping Ray. She could hear the faint sound of music coming from the club above her as she punched at the dummy in front of her, in her mind she could hear the words of encouragement and critique that Sara had offered to her; this only made her punch the dummy harder. She was so lost in her thoughts that it took her a moment to realize that one of the many monitoring devices she had set up was giving an alert on her computer screen.
[break][break]
She sat down in the chair and clicked a few buttons, frowning when she saw that it was an alert from the Starling City Police Department, which given the nature of the alert meant that a call from Lance was possibly in her future. Picking up her cell phone, she punched in Oliver’s number, listening to it ring several times, a few too many as she tapped the fingers on her free hand against the table.
[break][break]
When he finally picked up, she blinked as her poor ear was blasted with the music coming through the phone. “We have a situation across town. Where are you?” The music was muffled for a bit as she waited for him to respond before the call ended. Felicity looked down at her phone with a frown and was about to redial him when she heard his voice behind her. “I take it you were either upstairs, which explains the music or you’ve spending too much time with Barry and his speed is contagious...which that would be totally awesome if it was. And that’s so not the point. Situation, sorry.” Shaking her head to refocus, Felicity looked at the screen and punched a few buttons pulling up the message she saw earlier. “The police just got an alert about an incident at A Hole in One, looks like it’s a possible hostage situation.”
[break][break]
She was looking at the screen as he started gearing up. “Isn’t that a mini-golf place? Why would somebody take hostages there?”
[break][break]
“It’s that new mini-golf and donut shop.” Yeah she didn’t understand the combination but she’d heard they had some good donuts. “They don’t seem to know who exactly is in there or why, but I’ll keep digging.”
[break][break]
While she waited for him to get to the scene, Felicity had called Roy to inform him of the situation and she now had both of the boys on communications.
[break][break]
“Need an update, Felicity. How many are we talking here?”
[break][break]
Her fingers were flying furiously across her keyboard as she tried to find everything she could about the situation. “It looks like there are 3 people inside the golf hut. A teenager and manager of the hut and our assailant, Jack Whittaker. The cops are saying he’s armed, so you two be careful. I’m trying to find out why this guy has flipped, but from what I’ve found so far, it looks like he’s just some petty crook looking for some cash.”
[break][break]
Through the bluetooth connection they shared, she could hear the glass breaking and his response to the assailant. Her attention remaining focused on the computer monitor as she watched the communications taking place on the police side of things, “Looks like our boys in blue are getting antsy. You guys need to finish this before they go in and get someone hurt.”
