Working at a nightclub full of restless young people who dance into the night with whilst their judgement is reduced by alcohol and whatever illegal substances they might have taken to pre-game before the club. It actually wasn't so bad. The pay was good, the job as an assistant manager was much less taxing than any of the typical floor work for Verdant. But, when you coupled that with moonlighting in tight red leather next to someone who could hit a fly from miles away with an arrow, fighting some of the most dangerous people anyone could ever meet. Well, then you had something more tiresome. Still, both his need to provide for himself and his mother drove him to work. And his sense of duty and justice drove him to become Arsenal each night. At least the cave was in the club. Not much of a commute.
And his boss wasn't so bad. On the job, nor on the eyes. Thea Queen had been gone some time. But she's done a good job so far of keeping the club intact and thriving. Lord knows Oliver had no care for it. The whole thing was just a front for the team's base anyway. As far as Verdant went, he could have cared less. He cared a bit more considering it was Thea's source of income, but the base remained his main focus of the venue. Thinking of Thea brought up some mixed feelings. It was hard, no, impossible to think of Thea without thinking of their relationship. About his utter screw up. He was glad to have her back, but it wasn't the same as before. And at this point, he was sure it wouldn't be. At least, it was something she seemed to make sure of when she left. It was something Roy regretted every day since. Working so close to her hurt him a bit, because it reminded him. But he also couldn't see himself anywhere else.
After going through his rounds again, making sure the staff was all fine,t hat the bar was stocked, that everything in the club was in check for the time being. Roy ventured to the office, a bit tuckered out from the past few days' events. A huge drug bust the previous night, barely a day's sleep, and now tending to the club. It did take its toll on Roy eventually. He just hoped the rest of the night would be much less eventful so he could catch up on sleep. He entered the solace of the muffled music inside of the office, catching sight of Thea at work. There was always a mix of tension, awkwardness, and nervousness that twisted up in Roy when he saw her now. The desire to be close to her and the understanding to give her space struggling within. But he still always managed to force a few words. "Busy night, huh?"

To say that things in Thea Queen's life were complicated would be a huge understatement. She was still several weeks away from her twenty-first birthday and yet she had already gone through so much. More than most people experience in a life time, let alone a person of her age. Still, somehow she had managed to survive it. Even rise above it and become a stronger person for it.
It wasn't that long ago that she had swore she would never return to Starling City. Her note to Roy had said as much, the old Thea Queen had been weak and trusting. Six months away, spent with her biological father Malcolm Merlyn, had changed that. She was no longer weak and she had her very own secrets to keep now. What else had changed though, when Oliver and Roy came to Corto Maltese, was that she realized family was family. Ollie had reminded her of that, even if she didn't fully trust him anymore. So, she had come home to Starling City after all.
Club Verdant is where she focused her energy now. That and training, always training. She would never be that vulnerable little girl again. If someone was going to come after her, she wouldn't go without a fight. As it was at the moment, it was the club she was concerned with. Sitting in the office, going over some paperwork that never seemed to end. Reading a document, she could sense Roy's presence even before he made himself known. She didn't let on though. Looking up at him only after he spoke to her.
A small smile tugged at her lips when she saw him. Another one of the complications in her life. Her leaving had never been about not loving him. And those familiar feelings poked at her whenever she caught that first glance of him. Like right now. The truth of it was she didn't know what to do about him. No matter how she felt she knew they couldn't just go back to how things were like nothing happened. Maybe, eventually they would figure things out. Even the less trusting version of Thea Queen could still have hope at least.
"Yeah, pretty busy. Busy is good though, right? Means we're making money. Money keeps us in business." She replied, giving him another smile. Happy he was there. It gave her a sense of security and stability that he was still in her life. "Everything good out there? I'm sorry, I should get out there myself. Got caught up in this damn paperwork. Lost track of time."
Letting the paper slip out of her fingers onto the desk as she shook her head. A little sigh escaping her to emphasize just how not thrilled with doing paperwork she was.

Roy couldn't help but smile when faced with her own. It was the smile he had gotten used to. The one that when he saw it, it was confirmation that everything was okay. That he said something that she liked, and he should feel good about it. As much as he wanted to, he couldn't help but to think about all that they were before. He was certain that he wouldn't be able to resist smiling around her whenever she did so, no matter the circumstances.
"I guess it does." He replied with a bit of a grin. He was both impressed and a little surprised seeing her so driven toward the club. It never ceased to come up whenever he saw her work. His very first impression of her was that of a spoiled rich girl. Then of a gullible rich girl. Then a stubborn gullible rich girl. That had changed entirely. Well, the stubborn was still there. But she had changed in the time they had been together. She became more aware of the things around the city, and seemed more caring for them as well. And after visiting her in Corto Maltese, it was clear something even further changed in her. Now she was motivated, stern, strong. Neither him nor Oliver had been sure of what happened during her absence, but it only seemed to help Thea in the end. And thats all Roy could ask for.
He dared to step forward more toward the desk, shaking his head to answer her. "No, don't worry about ut. Everything is under control. You have to deal with...that." Roy couldn't blame her in the slightest. Paperwork never sounded good to him. And the little that he had to do for his job was already enough to irk him. Boring as it was, vigilantism and working on the floor seemed like a breeze in comparison.
Roy wanted to comfort her in her frustration, but he refrained. It wasn't easy but he did. He didnt even step too close to her, standing on the other side of the desk. He wasn't fully forgiven for keeping his secrets, and Thea made it clear before it wasn't going to be the same. He didn't like it, but he accepted it. It was his mistake in the end, and he could only lay in the bed he made. But, that didn't stop him from car in. As much as a friend could at the very least. Being as helpful as he could without overstepping her boundary. "How about a break then? Get your mind off it."

For a moment, when she looked at him standing in the doorway she had a sense of wanting to just start talking. Tell him everything that had been happening. Divulge her life story to him and leave no secrets between them. No lies. Unfortunately, fear kept her from doing that. The trust issue was still a thing and Malcolm Merlyn had only reinforced that with her. She certainly didn't want to be hurt like she had been before and the fact that Roy was still keeping things from her weighed on her. It seemed strange though, at least now she understood why people had their secrets. Even if she didn't like it. She let out a sigh, that was a dilemma for another day though.
Her attention was pulled back out of her thoughts as Roy came further into the room. Smiling as he assured her the club was running smoothly. "I should push more of this stuff off on you." She teased him with another smile. "I wouldn't though. You've got enough on your plate." Sitting back in her chair as she watched him across the desk. Trying to read his expression and body language. Figure out what he was thinking. He was tentative around her these days. It seemed they both were. Especially since she was fully aware that she was the one who had erected a wall around herself. Be careful what you wish for it seemed. She had asked for space, he was giving it to her.
She nodded when he brought up the idea of a break. Glancing down at the paperwork on her desk. Deciding it could indeed wait and glad of the excuse to put it out of her mind for a little while. "A break sounds good. How about a drink? We do run a club with a bar, right?" She couldn't help chuckling a little. "Or we could just step outside and get a bit of air. I do feel a bit cooped up in here sometimes. This damn office." And that was no lie. She was feeling restless a lot more lately and she didn't know why. It was just a lot of feelings still tumbling around inside her. Still trying to find her place in the world.

A smirk came across Roy's face at the idea. The thought of having paperwork pushed on him was dreadful. He'd sooner run and be shot at while wearing tight red leather. But something told him, if it made Thea's life any easier, he wouldn't mind in the slightest. He didn't know if it was healthy or not. It probably wasn't, but he elected to ignore that sort of thinking. It could have been that he felt guilty for driving her way, for being the reason she disappeared to Corto Maltese for all that time. But one thing was for sure, it was because he cared about her. Roy wanted to suggest she do just that, put the paper work on him so that she was less stressed. But the boundaries, trying not to flirt with her. It put cotton in his mouth, kept him from uttering a word on the matter. He only replied to her second statement. "Not that much. Job has been pretty easy tonight." Did that count? He couldn't tell. "Outside sounds good. Get away from the stuffy air." Roy himself got a little tired of being in the club after a while during the busier hours. The smell of alcohol, a toxic concoction of different perfumes and colognes, and sweat from the dance floor never did his head any good during these long nights. The office was better, but being in it too long made the air feel stale. Roy was sure everything was in order after his last rounds, they could take a few minute's break without things going to hell. He moved to open the door for her, watching her walk through and following behind. He stood quiet while they moved through the club. Mostly because he'd have to yell over the music for Thea to hear him, and he didn't want to make the effort. He sensed she didn't either. He felt relieved feeling the brisk air hit his face that was beaded with sweat from the hot environment inside Verdant and from the physical exertion of the job. Which wasn't much usually, but he was running on just a bit of sleep. The air from the alley way was a wake up call. The two seemed to mill about awkwardly for a few moments, the tension quite obviously building up between them for a moment before Roy finally spoke. Against his usual better judgement in these situations these days. "So, how have you been feeling? I mean, since you got back from Corto Maltese. We haven't really gotten to talking too much about it." He asked her with a genuine concern that he just couldn't resist.
